THE LORD’S GUIDANCE

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts” – Isaiah 55:8-9 

God sees ahead of us, for His thoughts encircle the earth. He sees all things and hears all things; He feels all things. God is more than several trillion miles away from us in terms of comprehension and discernment. Therefore, we must rely on Him for success in life because He is a perfect God and He knows all things. Also, in life, we need God’s guidance to make informed decisions. If God is going to shield us from calamities, we must let Him guide us in all our ways. Even though we have our reasoning faculties, we still need God to help facilitate our progress in life. Therefore, we need God to help us achieve success in our endeavours. There is no end to the reasons we need God in our lives.

 

 God has indeed given us a free choice and free will to live our lives the way we desire. He also gave us brains to think and act reasonably, and God expects us to use them to make sound judgments in life. Nevertheless, we can’t rely on our freedom and brains alone. Psalm 37:23-24: says, “The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives. Though they stumble, they will never fall, for the Lord holds them by the hand.”

 

Therefore, the Spirit of God helps us to make a sound judgment at all times. But we have to be sure that God is truly guiding us. When God is leading us, He helps us think clearly and sensibly, and He will direct our minds as we walk in a close relationship with Him. When the Holy Spirit lead believers, they will obey God’s Word and go in the direction He wants them to go. God speaks to us in our hearts and shows us how we are to go. 

 

You can receive God’s guidance when you: 

 

1. Come to God in prayers with your request for guidance.

2. Wait in silence for the Holy Spirit for at least 10 – 12 minutes to speak to us.     

    Jot down any Scripture, songs, impressions, or pictures God gives you.

3. Share how God spoke to you with your prayer partners for possible witnesses. 

4. Follow God’s will.

 

PRAYER

 

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, touch me and fill me with your light and your hope. Father, give me strength when I am weak, love when I feel forsaken, courage when I am afraid, wisdom when I feel foolish, comfort when I am alone, hope when I feel rejected, and peace when I am in turmoil. AMEN.
