BIBLICAL PRINCIPLES FOR ATTAINING HEALTH AND WELLBEING
Message
Every disease we suffer takes its roots first in our spirit, before it manifest on the physical body. Therefore, the cure for any disease must commence first from the spirit, and end with the spirit. However, as soon as a balance or health is restored to the spirit, the body gradually becomes healed and whole again.
Why is this so? This is necessarily so because the human being is both physical and spiritual, and nothing happens or manifest on the physical body without consent by our spirit. The spirit is like a storage or memory and it stores every positive aspects of our life in terms of beliefs, wisdom, knowledge and understanding. The spirit also stores so many negative experiences such as fears, anxiety, envy, jealousy etc. When we become overwhelmed by any of the positive or negative experiences stored up in the spirit, a byproduct is released which immediately manifest either as a disease or cure on the physical body.
You will recall that as God is in three parts – Father, Son and Holy Spirit — so man is three parts — body, soul and spirit. Paul was recorded to have said in the scriptures as follows:
“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ “(1 Thessalonians 5:23).
I must here quickly add that the spiritual parts of man, aside from the soul and spirit also include the intellect, will, emotions, conscience, etc. These spiritual aspects of man transcends the present lifetime; it spans into eternity and therefore eternal.
The question may be asked; “what if the reason for the disease condition is as result of infection due to viruses and other germs? What if ill-health is as a result of one form of accident or the other? The fact remains that virus or germs do not have power over the body except the spirit is weakened to accept the invasion of the body by such viruses and germs. Also, most accidents are attracted to us by our spirit due to the law of attraction.
It is very clear that the soul and spirit are the primary immaterial aspects of a human being, while the body is the physical container that holds them together on this earth. Therefore, if the body becomes badly damaged due to accident or germs and viruses, the spirit and the soul will be left without an earthly container. They must necessarily vacate, not just the damaged physical body, but the earth plane as well. When this happens, we say death or transition has occurred.
The bible makes reference to the heart as being to source of life. This is because the soul incorporates the mind, conscience, the will and the emotions. The soul and the spirit are mysteriously tied together and make up what the Scriptures call the “heart.” The bible says; “Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life.” (Prov. 4:23). At this point, we see clearly that the “heart” is central to our emotions and will and must be well shielded from wrong beliefs and negative projections.
At every given time, the question is; what do we want to achieve – a health condition or a Disease condition?
The bible says “A peaceful heart leads to a healthy body; jealousy is like cancer in the bones.” (Proverbs 14:30). Further to this, a crude and violent attitude to life is highly destructive to health and wellbeing. The bible says; “Don’t be impressed with your all wisdom. Instead, fear the Lord and turn your back on evil. Then you’ll gain renewed health and vitality” – (Proverbs 3:7-8). Also, Proverbs 17:22 says that; “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
I guess everyone wants healing. So the first step to receiving healing is to get rid of envy, jealousy, anger, unforgiving, sadness and evil attitude generally from our minds, spirit or hearts.
The second step is to take your natural medicines as prescribed. Medicine must be taken according to directions to be effective. Some medicine labels read “Take internally”; others say, “Take externally.” To rub it on your body externally when the directions say to take it internally will not work. It may even cause more damage in the process. To take it after meals when the directions say take it before meals will reduce its effectiveness. To take with Tea or mineral drink when directive is to take with water may lead to hypersensitivity. To take it once in a while when the directions say three times a day will mean limited results, if any. No matter how good the medicine is, it must be taken according to the directions of the physician or it will not work.
The third step is to apply a spiritual principle. If you believe in the power of the written word of God as contained in the bible, then you must apply it correctly for it to work. Regarding how to apply the written word of God, Proverbs 4:20-21 says: – “Attend to them, incline your ear to them, don’t let them depart from before your eyes, and keep them in the midst of your heart”. Please take note that you must allow the word of God to take root in your heart for it to work.
Please take note that the word of God must penetrate to your spirit through meditation – attending, hearing, looking, muttering, musing, and pondering before it can produce healing in the body.
Guide
How do we get the written word of God to penetrate our hearts and melt into our spirit? We have to do the following:
- Pray regularly with a particular healing verse in the scripture and meditate on it. This means we have to profess our faith and hope in that healing scriptural verse on a daily basis.
- When we thus pray, we must believe in our heart what we are professing. We must not doubt or waver.
- We must also have a very firm understanding of what we are professing or confessing.
The basic biblical principles of healing rests on the cross and the victory Jesus has won for the whole world. Regrettably however, only those who believe in this principle and are ready to apply same would benefit by it.
Now, meditate, believe, confess and profess the following:
- Confess your sins to God and request that He admits you to His throne of mercy. This will also cancel every legal authority that the demons may have against your healing. – James 5:16
- That Jesus Christ is the Author and finisher of your faith. This is because saving faith is a gift from God. Therefore, when your faith is failing, the Master would help your unbelief and sustain your faith – Hebrews 12:2
- That Jesus has made a perfect sacrifice of his life that you may gain a renewed life – Romans 8:11; Ephesians 2
- That the grace of the Master is sufficient for you. (2 Con 12:9). Here, the Master gives courage to everyone who is in covenant with Him. He is telling you: ‘Trust all to me. I will never fail thee nor forsake thee. Even that which thou feelest to be a hindrance will be overruled into a source of strength.’ Any wonder therefore; the thorn that Paul feels on his flesh was not taken away, but strength was given to him to bear it.
- Meditate upon, believe in, profess and confess Isaiah 53:4-5. This verse contains the summary of the mysteries of the cross and the principle of the Master for health and wellbeing; you must strike on the spirit subconscious of your being and let this scripture sink into your spirit. Believe therefore that Jesus has done that and therefore, you are victorious and healed by his blood and righteousness.
